Senior Virgin Hyperloop employees rode a 500 meter vacuum tunnel in a futuristic capsule.
According to the BBC, the entire route was covered in 15 seconds, and the capsule accelerated to 172 km / h.
The idea of creating the “transport of the future” was presented in 2013 by inventor and businessman Elon Musk, who also founded SpaceX and Tesla.
Since then, Richard Branson’s Virgin has joined the project, but other companies are also developing.
The capsule has already been able to accelerate to 450 km / h, but in this test there were people on board for the first time.
At the same time, the first testers were Virgin’s director of work with future customers Sara Lucian, as well as its chief technologist Josh Geigel.
Lucian noted that the capsule moved very smoothly, although acceleration was felt. However, both passengers did not feel nausea or dizziness.

The capsule could have accelerated to higher speeds, but the tunnel was too short.
